Frost: Demand for Real-Time Manufacturing Data, Business Systems Integration to Drive EMI Growth

Analysis by Frost & Sullivan concluded that enterprise manufacturing intelligence (EMI) products will be increasingly adopted across process- and discrete-industry verticals.
The firm found that EMI market revenues were over $900 million in 2007 with growth to $2.58 billion expected in 2014.
EMI products help merge production and business environments, offering real-time visibility of information.
"Track and trace" functionality of EMI applications allows for the creation of complex business scenarios, minimizing manual data process analysis, said Frost & Sullivan.
The EMI market is merging functionalities with existing market offerings, demonstrated by the acquisition of pure-play EMI vendors by major enterprise resource planning (ERP), automation or manufacturing execution system (MES) providers.
Although a low level of market awareness persists, technological developments and benefits are expected to help overcome this obstacle.
"End users must standardize process performance across the enterprise and guarantee a single version of truth shared for seamless collaboration," said Frost & Sullivan Senior Analyst Muthuraman Ramasamy.
