U.S. Air Force

Challenge
The U.S. Air Force material command (AFMC) was using multiple databases and technical order books to keep track of parts data for the aircraft they supported. This involved searching through multiple, disparate sources of information covering millions of parts, making it impossible for the Air Force to maintain accurate master material records.
Solution
IHS designed a modular, open and scalable parts configuration management system that consolidated databases and allowed for additional data capture capabilities, including editing, updating, and the ability to add and replace parts within the system.
Value Created
Since its deployment, the new system has increased Air Force efficiencies and significantly reduced the amount of time spent by personnel managing weapon parts data.
