Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) audio digital signal processors (DSPs) are certified for Digital Theater System-high definition (DTS-HD) master audio at 192 kHz for home theater systems.
Audio/video receivers (AVRs) based on TI's DA7xx generation of DSPs are designed to support eight channels of 192 kHz lossless audio that is identical to the original audio source, which allows home theater systems to sound as the filmmaker intended, claims TI.
With the certification of DTS-HD master audio and DTS-low bit rate (LBR), DA7xx DSPs are approved for both DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD and are touted as supporting all audio formats present on next-generation HD DVD and Blu-Ray discs, according to TI.
Decoding the DTS-HD master audio streams, eight channel/192 kHz audio and post-processing can be handled on a single DA7xx DSP, said TI.
TI's audio framework is designed to enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to plug in differentiating post-processing modules from TI or TI third parties including Audyssey MultEQ XT, Neural-THX Surround, SRS Circle Surround II and THX Ultra 2, said TI.
TI's DA7xx DSPs or Aureus processors target home theater and automotive products requiring multi-channel decoding and high-speed encoding, said TI.
TI's Aureus product line consists of a 32/64-bit floating-point programmable DSP and a software solution that is designed to enable multi-channel decoding applications, according to TI.
The 32-bit floating point DA7xx HD decoder solutions are available in a 256-ball grid array (BGA) package and 144-pin thin quad flat pack (TQFP) package.
