Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) and SMSC implemented SMSC media local bus (MediaLB) technology in the latest member of the Fujitsu 32 b MB91460 microcontroller product series, the MB91F467M.
These devices are designed to support high-performance automotive and industrial applications to ensure fast data processing and distribution, Fujitsu said.
The MediaLB serial bus interface provides connectivity to the SMSC media oriented systems transport (MOST) intelligent network interface controller (INIC) family.
The MB91F467M is a member of the Fujitsu MB91460 range of controllers designed for automotive applications including body control, dashboard and infotainment.
The MB91F467M targets car audio applications and acts as a gateway between the MOST bus, via its MediaLB interface, and up to 10 inter IC sound (I2S) interfaces.
In addition to data, MediaLB also provides a clock path with low jitter from the MOST backbone to or from those interfaces.
The MediaLB function block allows 256 fs and 512 fs operation. It contains a buffer of 2,048 b x 32 b and offers support for 16 channels. The on-chip memory includes 1,088 kB of flash, 64 kB of random access memory (RAM) and an 8 kB cache. Debugging is supported by the on-chip debug support unit, which can be directly connected to the Fujitsu ICE system. The MB91F467M is housed in a low-profile quad flat package-216 (LQFP-216).
First samples will be available in 2Q 2008. Fujitsu will also offer its MB91460 support ecosystem for this member of the MB91460 series.
