Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced a list of its visual computing products that conform to the first Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) DisplayPort certification.
The certification was awarded to the ATI Radeon HD 3400, ATI Radeon HD 3600, ATI Radeon HD 3800, ATI FireMV 2260 graphics products and the AMD 780G integrated graphics chipset.
As the next generation of PC display connection technology, the DisplayPort interface delivers twice the output capacity of digital video interface (DVI).
"Dell is pleased to see AMD achieve the first DisplayPort Certification for PC graphics with the ATI Radeon HD 3000 products, ATI FireMV 2260 and AMD 780G," said Bruce Montag, office of the CTO, Dell.
"The VESA DisplayPort certified logo assures customers that DisplayPort products interoperate and provide a great digital display experience," he said.
"AMD has been a driving force in the development of DisplayPort," said Bill Lempesis, VESA executive director.
"The ATI Radeon HD 3000 series of graphics cards are the first source devices to achieve DisplayPort certification," Lempesis said.
Matt Skynner, vice president of marketing, AMD graphics products group, said this certification gives PC consumers next-generation display capabilities today. "With twice the capacity of DVI, DisplayPort delivers a wide variety of eye-popping high-definition content including games, movies and advanced applications yet to be created,” he said.
