"Now united with a single brand, the global standards community is poised to help companies accelerate their adoption and implementation of standards that will improve their supply chain efficiencies," said Miguel Lopera, CEO of GS1 and GS1 US. "As the world business community begins to work more closely together, businesses have to adapt in many ways. Global standards are key in helping businesses speed collaboration among trading partners around the world."
GS1 consists of 101 Member Organizations, including GS1 US, representing more than 103 countries around the world.
Collectively across the GS1 organization, more than one million member companies in 155 countries utilize these business tools to drive costs out of the supply chain and improve business productivity and efficiency. The GS1 brand supports the organization's vision of one global "language of business."
GS1 is based in Brussels, Belgium. The new name was ratified by the General Assembly in 2004 and was officially launched in Europe in February 2005.
