The Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 announced that GEFEG mbH is contributing its EDIFIX 6.0 Editor for use in standards development using ASC X12's new framework, Context Inspired Component Architecture (CICA).
The EDIFIX 6.0 CICA Editor is the first product on the market that enables users to generate CICA constructs and data models, according to ASC.
GEFEG EDIFIX supports companies in modeling, creating, testing and documenting guidelines based on international Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) business standards, such as ASC X12, United Nations/Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport (UN/EDIFACT), and XML business schemas.
The EDIFIX CICA Editor, said ASC, offers the ability to modify CICA constructs, link CICA constructs to X12 EDI code lists, and maintain multiple versions of CICA constructs.
GEFEG is involved in national and international standards organizations, including:
- ASC X12
- ISO TC 154 - Processes, data elements and documents in commerce, industry and administration
- United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT)
- Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG)
- Standards for Technology in Automotive Retail (STAR)
- AIA
- EDIFICE.
"We are so pleased to have longtime X12 member GEFEG offer its new product that supports CICA message construction through the ASC X12 Tools for Members program," said ASC X12 Chair Ralph Berwanger.
"CICA offers potential benefits to both EDI and XML implementers," said Sylvia Webb, managing partner of GEFEG US. "We look forward to working with X12 members to assist them in taking advantage of the added value that CICA offers."
